Departmental seminar
A dose-response in a cell model
Does compound X reduce inflammatory signalling, and at what concentration?
Presenter Name, Lab of Cell SignallingFictional study, sample deckOctober 2026
Compound X lowers IL-6 release in a dose-dependent way, with no loss of viability.
Methods
Four steps, three replicates
Culture
Macrophage-like cells, passage 6 to 9.
Dose
0, 1, 5, 25 micromolar, 2 hours.
Stimulate
LPS for 24 hours.
Measure
IL-6 by ELISA, viability by MTT.
IL-6 falls as the dose rises
Half the control level at 25 micromolar.
| Dose | IL-6 |
|---|---|
| 0 uM | 840 |
| 1 uM | 790 |
| 5 uM | 610 |
| 25 uM | 420 |
The numbers behind the claim
3Independent experiments
50%IL-6 reduction at 25 uM
>95%Cell viability at every dose
Reading the result
Claim, evidence, caveat
Compound X reduces IL-6 release.
Monotonic fall across four doses; viability unchanged.
One cell line, one stimulus, no in vivo data yet.
Repeat in primary cells
Then test a second inflammatory readout.
Thank you
