Checkout, five taps fewer
What eight usability sessions showed, and the two flows we want feedback on.
Design team, fictional shop appSample deckOctober 2026
Finding
People did not abandon at payment. They gave up at the address form.
Six of eight stalled there for more than 40 seconds.
Time on each step
The address step takes longer than payment and confirmation together.
| Step | Median seconds |
|---|---|
| Cart | 18 |
| Sign in | 22 |
| Address | 74 |
| Payment | 41 |
| Confirm | 9 |
Insights
Observation, cause, change
Participants retyped their street twice when autofill filled the wrong field.
Fields are named in a non-standard order, so the browser cannot map them.
Use standard field names and a single search-as-you-type address line.
About 30 seconds saved
To be tested in the next round.
Crit this
Two flows to compare
Flow A: one page
- Everything on a single scroll
- Fewer taps, longer page
- Risk: feels heavy on small phones
Flow B: three steps
- Address, delivery, pay
- Progress bar always visible
- Risk: back button confusion
Next four weeks
Prototype
Both flows in high fidelity.
Test
Eight new sessions.
